Who We Are

First established in 1977, AAWORD is a pan-African NGO with national chapters across the continent, dedicated to promoting the economic, political, and social rights of African women.
By decolonizing African research, we seek to empower women through research, training, advocacy, and support. We focus on areas such as economic justice, democratic governance, Sexual and Reproductive rights including Gender Based Violence, Conflict resolution, and environmental and climate change. We use both Gender and Right Based Approaches in all our undertakings.
